Season 0 Digital Collectible Is Here
As a thank you for supporting The One Big Idea Podcast, please collect this commemorative Season 0 digital collectible as a token of my appreciation.
Why Collect?
We all have something we discovered before it became cool. An artist, film, orā¦ podcast. Yet we have no trustless way of verifying our fandom.
Until now.
As NFTs, these limited edition digital collectibles prove when you started supporting the podcast. They also serve as your key to utility in the OBI ecosystem. For starters, collectible holders will have access to the One Big Idea Telegram group. In the future, these collectibles may be used to gate content, provide discounts, and serve as an allowlist for future drops.
How Much Is It?
Free + gas (transaction fees set by the network)
How Can I Collect?
Follow me on Twitter and Lens (you can follow on Lens without a profile).
Set up your self-custody wallet (e.g. Metamask, Rainbow, Coinbase Wallet)
Set up a Polygon bridge (instructions here)
Add $MATIC to your wallet to cover gas (use the free polygon faucet here)
Mint at mint.onebigidea.xyz.
I Collected. Now What?
Head over to Guild.xyz to gain access to the One Big Idea Telegram Group and say hello! Collectors will also have first access to an upcoming mint in January. More details to come in the new year.
Iām Having Issues Minting. Where Can I Go?
Iāll be opening a thread on my Substack page for anyone to reach out with questions. To access, you must download the Substack app on your mobile device.
Again a big thank you to everyone for your support. As we close out the year, Iām filled with immense gratitude for everyone who has chosen to spend their time tuning in. We have some fun updates planned in 2023 to take this to the next level and hopefully continue to earn your time and trust.
Letās get into it.
One Big Podcast
Chris Dixon and Sonal Chokshi chat with Punk6529 about NFT use cases; NFT art (and generative art!); VR, AR, metaverse; more. As well as about regulatory mindsets, moves, and news -- such as Apple's in-app purchasing guidelines for NFTs, and Reddit NFTs.
One Big Thread
Many believe payments, like DeFi and NFTs before them, have the potential to bring on the next bull market. Yet, for payments to truly go mainstream, crypto has a long way to get to parity with the traditional banking industry. One area crypto lags behind is auto payments - i.e. the ability to set up recurring āpullā transactions with a merchant. This is due to the fact each payment today requires a transaction initiated by a user account.
Catherine and the team at Visa propose the use of Account Abstraction (AA) as a solution. AA enables programmable validity - meaning transactions would not require a user to execute.
While itās encouraging to see solutions proposed to solving crypto auto payments the real signal here is Visa deploying internal resources to disrupt themselves. Crypto payments represent the next frontier and instead of fighting it off it appears Visa is fully embracing the future.
You can check out the full report by Visa here.
One Big Video
Terraforms by Mathcastles, an on-chain art project, has captured the attention of the NFT community this past week. Initially launched last December, the project has sky rocketed to the top of the marketplace charts hitting all time highs in floor price.
In the video above, mmmato.eth breaks down why Terraforms represent a breakthrough in on-chain art and why their structure is only possible via the blockchain.
One Big Playlist
We are back with the second edition of Fresh Mint Friday. This week I was joined Charlie Crown and Sara Phillips to discuss their latest single, Hurts.
One Big Quote
āRelentlessly prune bullshit, don't wait to do things that matter, and savor the time you have. That's what you do when life is shortā - Paul Graham
That is all for this week. Catch everyone in 2023!
